What should I do first with a new wand?

Before working with a new wand, fill it with your positive intentions and personal power. Sit quietly with it and meditate on what drew you to this particular wand; let your fingers flow over the detail and absorb the feel of it, noticing the textures and patterns. When the wand begins to feel familiar in your hands, dedicate and consecrate it: a small personal ritual with incense, candles, water and salt for the elements, and a mirror for the candlelight.
