What more have we to give one another than our ‘truth’ about our human adventure as honestly and as openly as we know how?
– Rabbi Saul Rubin

Medieval Europe was, for the most part, a patriarchal society. An intelligent woman was often shunned, considered to be a witch. This knowledge, this wisdom was oftentimes centered on the healing arts – on the use of herbal medicines and serving as the village midwife. Skills in the healing arts were passed from woman to woman through the stories they told.

The Wise One Pendant shows a witch with flowing hair, in traditional dress, holding her broom. Ancient healers, wise women, midwives, and sorceresses are called forth in this piece.

The Wise One Pendant
honors the witches of today and those of the past.
It is a celebration of the wisdom of witches.

In medieval Europe a ‘witch’ was often a wise person, usually a wise woman – one who was skilled in the healing arts. She may have had knowledge of ancient herbal medicines and was often a midwife as well. Her religious beliefs, if she had any, were more often than not a faith based on the ancient environment which surrounded her and thus she had a supreme belief in, and respect for Nature. Her faith lay in the sun, the moon, the forest, and in all livings creatures. She also had a special reverence for the seasons of the year and the seasonal festivals celebrating the change in the weather and the harvesting of crops.

Today, we are again seeing these witches in our midst. They are the herbalists, midwives and witch-priestesses who heal our spirits, bodies and hearts. Our Witch Healer Pendant is perfect for celebrating this tradition. A charming cloaked figure moves through the fog, bringing her cauldron and herbs. She is a healer, a guardian of ordinary folks. The pendant honors this much respected person, the midwife who brings babies safely into the world; the healer who is knowledgeable about herbs, ointments, and potions; the wise woman who people turn to in times of trouble, disease and sadness.

This beautiful
Witch Healer Pendant
is hand cast in sterling silver and serves as a celebration of witch healers past and present.

Brooms and pointed hats are traditional symbols of witches and wise women. The association between witches and brooms goes back to ancient times. The pagan community would come together for ceremonies to ensure healthy crops. During the ritual they would mount pitchforks, poles, and brooms; and ride them like horses into the fields, leaping high into the air and dancing. During medieval times brooms were a symbol of female domesticity. Since most witches were female, the broom became intrinsically linked with Witches. In modern times, brooms are reminders of the power and unlimited possibilities of the Wiccan path.

This is a powerful, yet simple magic wand that calls forth the powers of the Witches, both ancient and modern. Shaped like the traditional round broom, the large Witch’s Broom Wand is a wonderfully versatile spell casting tool. The broom is hollow at the bottom, allowing you to insert spells. You can write your spells on a small piece of paper and place them in the broom before casting your spell. The spell can remain in the broom when placed on your altar. Both the Witch’s Broom Wand and Hat can stand on an altar, reminders of the Wise Witches who came before us. The broom and hat can sit separately or the hat can be placed on top of the broom when it is standing up. The hat can also be used for storing small herb packets or stones.
