Kore is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter – she was abducted by Hades. The story of her abduction brought about the belief that she is the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest.

The labyris is a a symmetrical doubleheaded axe and has long been seen as a symbol of the Amazons, ancient matriarchal societies and within Womyn’s Culture today.

Kore Labyris Earringa. These are a beautiful pair of Kore Labyris Earrings in Sterling Silver. The Labyris (Labyrs) is a symbol of the Amazons, Ancient Matriarchies and Womyn’s Culture today. These Koire Labyris are an Abby Willowroot Classic Design, and have been very popular since they first were shown at the Michigan Women’s Music Festival in the late 1970s.
